Environmental Scientists work to solve the world’s environmental problems, such as pollution. They study what is in our air, water, and soil to make sure the environment is safe, and they give advice on how to improve its health. These scientists work in labs and offices, but they often do field research outside where they take measurements and conduct experiments. Many environmental scientists work for the government, while others work for engineering, oil, and gas companies. A college degree in a related science such as chemistry or biology is common, and a graduate degree is needed for most research positions.
