Geoscientist

Career categories:

Geoscientists are “rock star” scientists. They study the physical parts of the Earth and its composition, structure, and processes. They work to uncover the story of the Earth’s past and present, while making predictions for its future. Geoscientists split their time between working in offices and laboratories and traveling the world doing fieldwork. Most geoscientist positions require at least a bachelor’s degree in geosciences, and a doctorate is needed for leading research projects and teaching at a university. Computer knowledge is essential, as geoscientists often use computer modeling, data analysis, and digital mapping.
