Coffee shop drink of choice? I recently returned from India on a personal adventure and I am obsessed with any type of tea. Pass the Masala Chai, please!

What do you like to do outside of work? I really enjoy meeting new people, riding my bike really fast, and going on adventures. I also love to bake desserts, listen to French music, and hang out with my dogs. I’m also really involved with the Society of Women Engineers.

What career did you imagine yourself in as young girl? I wanted to be many things as a child. At one point in time I wanted to be a ballerina. I also was obsessed with computers in 4th/5th grade. I vividly remember wanting to be a brain surgeon when I was in the first grade. My career now is definitely brain intensive- minus the surgery and blood part!

Try it out with this challenge: Make Your Own Lipgloss!

400modtechBio: At her job, Ester is able to meet new people while helping to solve problems that impact the defense of our nation. After completing a B.S in chemical engineering at Carnegie Mellon with minors in business and German, she worked in three different industries: first food manufacturing, then quantitative finance, and now strategy consulting. She credits the strong analytical engineering foundation for allowing her to shift from each area easily. Important skills for her current career include problem solving, analytical thinking, good communication, client service, and relationship management. Ester says, “A big challenge is being a young independent female in any industry. Let’s face it- the world is still mostly men in the science and engineering fields- it’s important to realize that your experiences make you unique and that is something of value!”

When not wearing a suit and heels for client meetings, Ester can be found in a bike helmet or a swimsuit – she is training for a half ironman triathlon! Her personal goals include completing a full ironman triathlon before 2015 and filling all the empty spots on her passport with stamps. She also has her sights set on a master’s degree before she turns 30.
